During the Pentagon's 2005 Base Realignment and Closure round, FaegreBD Consulting successfully led the effort of community and military leaders to help safeguard a local air base against adverse impacts by the closures. FaegreBD Consulting continues to coordinate with federal and state officials to identify a niche national security role for the community by utilizing the assets of the base, also advocating before the U.S. Congressional delegation for key military construction projects. FaegreBD Consulting has worked to build strategic awareness and congressional support for the regional defense industry cluster and also works to assist the local airport with non-defense related infrastructure projects.
On behalf of a large urban county, FaegreBD Consulting has worked to advance a number of economic development initiatives, including highway interchanges, incubators, a child care center and two large brownfield redevelopment sites. In addition, the firm played a key role in the award of a grant for $1.725 million from the Economic Development Administration to support the development of a program to attract Chinese investment and plant locations.
