WASHINGTON, D.C. (11-January-2012) — Charlene Frizzera and Gregory G. Enas have joined the health and life sciences team at FaegreBD Consulting as senior advisors. Both will serve clients from the firm's Washington, D.C. office, and Enas will also work from Indianapolis.
Formerly the acting administrator and chief operating officer of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Frizzera works with clients, CMS and Congress to influence laws, regulations and policies. She guides health care entities in their interactions with CMS to help them achieve their business goals and comply with relevant health care legislation, regulations and reimbursement requirements.
During her 30-year career with CMS, Frizzera led the agency in implementing an aggressive fraud and abuse reduction program, the Affordable Care Act and the Medicare Modernization Act, which required development of the Medicare Part D prescription drug program. As acting administrator, she led the policy and operational aspects of the Medicare Programs, the Medicaid Program and the Children's Health Insurance Program. In recognition of her outstanding leadership, Frizzera received the Presidential Rank Award, which is conferred upon the top one percent of the country's Senior Executive Service, in both 2008 and 2000.
Enas is a 30-year veteran of Eli Lilly and Company, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, where he served in various leadership positions related to regulatory affairs, statistical sciences and decision sciences. In his most recent capacity as senior director of Global Regulatory Affairs, U.S. Diabetes, he was responsible for overseeing the delivery of world-class regulatory strategies for the Diabetes Business Unit, negotiating product development and approval with FDA, and coordinating strategies for aligned global implementation.
At FaegreBD Consulting, Enas assists life science companies in obtaining FDA product approval and complying with complex regulations during research and development, marketing and manufacturing. He has a deep background in innovative research and development plans, including compiling statistically robust substantial evidence that meets regulatory requirements. Enas is skilled in helping international organizations coordinate global implementation of regulatory strategies.
A national thought leader in personalized medicine, Enas has written and presented numerous papers on clinical trial designs, regulatory interactions and related matters. He also serves on the board of trustees for the Institute for Classical Schools in Virginia and the board of advisors for Justice Ventures International in Maryland.
