As a leader in a multimillion dollar downtown redevelopment project, Faegre Baker Daniels moved into a new office in one of South Bend's most prominent buildings and visible corners in 2008. The firm opened its first South Bend office in 1990 and consolidated its practices in North Central Indiana into a regional model by transferring operations in Elkhart to the South Bend office in 2007.

The Morris Performing Arts Center—a nationally ranked 2,500-seat theater—hosts a variety of performances, including symphony, dance, national touring musical concerts, comedians and Broadway touring performances.

South Bend is located where the St. Joseph River bends in northern Indiana. The East Race Waterway in the heart of downtown was the first artificial white water course in North America—and only one of six in the world. In both recreation and competition, the 2,000-foot long rapids rival those of the Colorado River, generating waves up to six feet or higher.

At the Studebaker Museum, visitors view 114 years of automotive history—from the Studebaker family's Conestoga Wagon to the last car to roll off the assembly line. Fine dining can be a special treat in historic buildings or home cooking in quaint neighborhood pubs. Erskine Hills, the city's newest shopping district, features 510,000 square feet of shopping options.

South Bend is located 10 miles south of the Michigan state line, 40 miles from the shores of Lake Michigan and 90 miles from Chicago via the Indiana Toll Road.
