Richard M. Campanelli, Counsel at Baker & Daniels LLP and Senior Advisor of B&D; Consulting, will present a session on "Privacy and Risk in the Era of HITECH Interoperability and Genetic Information" on February 3 at the 18^th National HIPAA Summit. Campanelli is a former Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Counselor for Public Health & Science and former Director of the HHS Office for Civil Rights.

This summit is intended to prepare attendees for professional HIPAA privacy and security certification examinations; help understand the basics of HIPAA and HITECH laws and regulation; outline the next generation of privacy and security compliance strategies; hear prominent multi-institutional and/or regional approaches to HIPAA compliance; assess the applicability of HIPAA and HITECH to HERs and HIE; and understand the implications of health reform to health care privacy and security.
