The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, also known as the "Economic Stimulus Act," will provide a total of $20 billion to support infrastructure for electronic exchange of health information and incentives to encourage doctors and hospitals to adopt certified electronic health records.
What will this infusion of money and expansion of a regulatory framework mean to the health care industry? What do stakeholders need to know now? Dave Zook, chair of B&D; Consulting and a member of the Baker & Daniels HIT practice team, will address these questions and tell you how the federal government will implement these initiatives in the wake of the Economic Stimulus Bill.
In addition, two other members of the firm's HIT group will provide insight into specific areas of the new law. Joan Antokol will provide an overview of the privacy and security aspects of HIT, along with recommendations for addressing the new challenges, and David Storey will offer an introductory look at the direction of telemedicine.
