B&D; Consulting Education Leaders to Address Presidents of N.Carolina School Boards
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Dr. Henry Johnson and M. René Islas of B&D; Consulting's education team will speak at the North Carolina School Board Association's (NCSBA) Presidents Meeting on June 23, 2010.
Dr. Johnson, a former Associate State Superintendent for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and Islas, a former Chief of Staff in the U.S. Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, will provide school board leaders with expert insights on information on best practices for improving schools.
Participants will learn about the research base that supports effective school improvement practices, examine selected examples of school improvement resources, analyze selected school improvement plans, discuss barriers to effective practices and examine the role of the board in school improvement. There will also be a discussion of the U. S. Department of Education School Improvement Grants.
