Former Director of Chicago's D.C. Office Joins B&D; Consulting

WASHINGTON – David E. Yudin, Director of the City of Chicago's Washington Office from 1991-2004 and more recently legislative counsel to U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman, has joined B&D Consulting as a senior advisor in its local government practice.

Yudin brings a career of hands-on experience to B&D Consulting's nationally recognized team that helps communities advance their vision from a federal perspective. From Washington, D.C., Yudin managed lobbying efforts for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, widely recognized and respected around the country for innovation and leadership in city government. Success required extensive bipartisan interaction with Congress and the Administration.

Over the last two years, Yudin served as Legislative Counsel to Sen. Lieberman of Connecticut. He advised the senator on a wide variety of issues, including housing, tax, trade, economic policy, federal budget, financial services, small business and insurance. Yudin also helped develop major legislation addressing competitiveness and innovation policy.

"David is an exceptional addition to our local government consulting group bringing increased depth, expertise and understanding of the interaction between federal decision-makers and cities and their key agencies," said David R. Zook, Chair of B&D Consulting. "His extensive experience with Mayor Daley, Senator Lieberman and in several policymaking roles complements the team's strengths in community development and regulatory solutions."

As director of the federal government relations for the nation's third largest city, Yudin led Chicago's lobbying efforts. His work included development, implementation and coordination of the city's federal agenda, including such issues as transportation, housing, environment, crime, economic development, education, health and human services. He also directed the city's efforts to obtain federal funding for many important Chicago projects.

Earlier in his career, Yudin served for five years as Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs under the late Sen. Harrison Williams of New Jersey, specializing in mass transit, housing and community development. Prior to that, he served as Legislative Counsel to the Urban Mass Transportation Administration (now FTA) and in several legal staff positions in New York City government.

Yudin is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Georgetown University Law Center.
