Health Impacts of Climate Change Discussed at Forum
WASHINGTON – On July 20, B&D Consulting, in collaboration with the Environmental Defense Fund, hosted a luncheon forum at the Metropolitan Club in Washington, D.C. to bring leaders in pharmaceutical, medical device and related industries together for an opportunity to have an open dialogue about the health impacts of global climate change.
Dr. Howard Frumkin, Director of the National Center for Environmental Health Agency at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), opened a thought-provoking dialogue of the consequences of climate change on global health. Dr. Frumkin discussed the CDC's efforts to track and predict potential health threats associated with climate change.
Debra Lappin, Senior Vice President of B&D Consulting, served as moderator of the panel which included Dr. John Balbus, a Senior Scientist at the Environmental Defense Fund, and Dr. Kristie Ebi, an Independent Consultant on Global Climate Change. The focus of the discussion was to educate professionals in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and diagnostic industries on the impact climate change has on their industry.
"B&D Consulting has always worked to ensure our clients are knowledgeable on the topics that affect their business," Lappin said. "It was a pleasure to be able to bring experts at such a high level together at this critical time for the industry."
As one guest noted, the luncheon forum was "... a very thoughtful approach to make industry leaders aware of the state of the science regarding global warming and human health. I feel better prepared to start thinking of ways to improve my business strategies by modeling our practices to help improve the future of our business and the climate. "
