FaegreBD Consulting Promotes Health & Biosciences Leader to Principal
WASHINGTON, D.C. (12-January-2012) — Timothy R. Franson, M.D., a key leader in the health and biosciences practice at FaegreBD Consulting, has been named a Principal with the firm. He was a Senior Vice President.
"Tim has launched and built the firm's FDA regulatory consulting capabilities," said Dave Zook, chair at FaegreBD Consulting. "This expertise has become increasingly important to our industry, academic and patient advocacy clients because successfully bringing new products to market has grown more complex and uncertain."

Dr. Franson leads a group at FaegreBD Consulting which provides comprehensive regulatory pre-approval and postmarketing regulatory advice, as well as bundled strategic consulting with other firm services such as drug-device strategies and regulatory reimbursement and regulatory meeting/media training components. He has extensive clinical and regulatory experience in all pre- and post-approval phases of pharmaceutical development (small and large molecule) relating to interactions with FDA for policy and product issues, as well as interactions with global regulators.
Dr. Franson joined FaegreBD Consulting (formerly B&D Consulting) in 2008 after serving as Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs at Lilly Research Laboratories. He was responsible for all regulatory and patient safety activities from 2003 until his retirement from Lilly in June 2008.
Dr. Franson has authored more than 50 articles in the fields of infectious disease, epidemiology, pharmacoeconomics and antibiotic utilization. In 2011, he was a contributing author to PDUFA & the Expansion of FDA User Fees: Lessons from Negotiators, a 300-page book written by past and current FDA leadership as a guide to stakeholders preparing for any user fee negotiation.
Dr. Franson also serves as the President of the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention.
A physician and pharmacist by training, Dr. Franson received his M.D. with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1978. He completed a fellowship in infectious diseases and epidemiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin from 1981-83 and internal medicine training from the University of Iowa from 1978-81.
