City of Minneapolis Enlists FaegreBD Consulting to Assist with Grant Applications

In 2011, the city of Minneapolis experienced reduced state aid and a 46 percent reduction in federal funding, which led to the layoffs of six firefighters, according to a Minnesota Daily article. In response to funding decreases, the Minneapolis City Council voted on Feb. 24, 2012, to retain FaegreBD Consulting to represent the city on Capitol Hill and to help with applications for federal grants.

With this vote, the city is switching federal affairs firms for the first time since 2008.

City Councilwoman Elizabeth Glidden told Minnesota Daily that FaegreBD Consulting will play an important role for the city, which has focused more attention on federal grants in recent years. Such grants have funded city programs such as the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, which helped Minneapolis weather the housing crisis. Read more.
