Indianapolis (24-September-2012) - On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, the Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce awarded a $157,392 grant to the City of Indianapolis to assist with planning efforts involving four former automotive manufacturing plants.

The city plans to analyze the four manufacturing sites to determine how they could be redeveloped to meet current demand for industrial property or what alternative uses might be feasible for the sites.

The four sites represent 389 acres of industrial land and nearly 5 million square feet of buildings. Sites targeted for redevelopment include a General Motors stamping plant near downtown, Chrysler's former foundry on the west side, a Ford/Visteon assembly plant on the east side and Navistar's foundry on the east side.

A team from FaegreBD Consulting, led by David U. Gogol and Nick Weber, identified the opportunity, advised the City of Indianapolis on preparation and completion of the successful grant application, and worked with EDA officials prior to and following its submission.
