Information Technology

FaegreBD Consulting has tremendous experience with the key legislative and regulatory branches of the federal government considering whether and how to make decisions impacting the information technology sector of the economy. The firm provides a wide range of strategic consulting services to information technology clients on legislative policy, regulatory actions, industry relations and economic development strategies. Our team works with clients ranging from globally recognized high-tech firms to cutting edge startup organizations. We understand the variety of impacts federal policy can have on businesses throughout this diverse economic sector, and work with clients to develop thoughtful policies to achieve their specific objectives in the context of efforts to grow the Internet economy and maximize broadband networks throughout the U.S.

Congressional and Federal Regulatory Activity

Our  Washington, D.C. experience in this sector is second to none and is spearheaded by Mary Bono. Mary is a former member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and served as Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade. The Energy and Commerce Committee is one of the most powerful legislative bodies in Congress, with jurisdiction over telecommunications, consumer protection, privacy, cybersecurity, energy and environmental policy, health care, food and drug safety, public health research, and interstate and foreign commerce. In addition, her former Subcommittee had jurisdiction over the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Mary's experience enables our firm to provide clients with direct insights into effectively navigating both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate and many of the federal agencies which impact legislative and regulatory policy affecting the information technology industry.

Privacy and Cybersecurity

Additionally, FaegreBD Consulting has significant experience on the range of privacy issues affecting information technology companies as well as companies and consumers who conduct business on the Internet. We are very familiar with and advise clients on potential new laws and regulations that seek to develop infrastructure to combat cyber attacks. We have worked closely with corporations, public policy groups and industry associations on the range of governmental initiatives in the privacy and cybersecurity arenas.
