FaegreBD Consulting's media and entertainment practice has worked with movie studios, publishing companies, authors, musicians, artists, media outlets and others in the industry. Led by former Congresswoman Mary Bono, the firm advises clients on how to address threats and opportunities as the federal government considers changes to federal laws and regulations. Our team works with Congress and federal agencies to enhance the rights of the content providers, and to take advantage of distribution and ownership of our clients' intellectual property across formal and informal channels, including social media. We have direct experience working with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on entertainment and privacy public policy.
Congressional ExperienceDuring her tenure in Congress, Mary Bono was a major supporter of the Copyright Term Extension Act, a piece of legislation that extended the terms of copyright in the U.S. Her work in Congress has continued with FaegreBD Consulting, where our media and entertainment team works closely with clients to develop thoughtful and meaningful intellectual property policies to help protect the rights of those who create content. Our personal experience with Congress and the federal regulators provides our clients with access to decision makers who are directly responsible for influencing policy in this dynamic industry. The FaegreBD Consulting team provides strategic consulting services, which include but are not limited to how to educate, inform and influence federal public policy makers on entertainment-specific legislation and regulations that affect the entertainment industry.
Protection of Artists' RightsFaegreBD Consulting is committed to developing effective legislative policy that enhances intellectual property protections throughout the media and entertainment industry. As the late Sonny Bono's wife and administrator of his collection, Mary Bono has a deep understanding of the regulatory and legislative challenges artists face in the industry.
