In the US system of dual federal and state regulation, financial services are a focus of both state and national legislators.  Recognizing the rapid growth in financial service products offered to consumers, the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) in conjunction with Networks Financial Institute (NFI) is establishing an Academy for Excellence in Financial Services Policy.  The Academy program will offer state legislators and staff basic information and advanced concepts of financial service regulation, in a series of courses and seminars.

The initial Academy seminars for state legislators will be presented August 17 and 18 at the NCSL annual meeting in Seattle, and attorneys from the Insurance and Financial Services Practice Group of Baker & Daniels will be speaking.  Seattle discussions are focused on "A Primer on the Financial Services Marketplace" and "The ABCs of Protecting Financial Consumers."  NFI and NCSL will offer more than a dozen additional financial services seminar topics at meetings in upcoming months.  Baker & Daniels and B&D Sagamore are pleased to have their professionals helping make these initial Academy presentations.
