Supporters of cyber-threat information sharing legislation that would offer liability protection to companies that share threat intel with the government and others may push harder than ever to get a bill passed before the next Congress. However, some speculate that there's too much to do and not enough time left in the year to pass such legislation.

Lawmakers have several time-sensitive bills that Democrats and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will likely focus on before their terms are up, but there's hope that both Democrats and Republicans will work together pass the bipartisan cybersecurity bill.

FaegreBD Consulting senior director Kathleen Rice, who was former counsel for the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee, said to Politico, "Reid has been pretty good about letting [bipartisan security bills like the Protect America Act and the FISA Amendments Act] come to a vote and he's looking at a bipartisan bill that there's a lot of support for and her could easily put it on the floor…but whether he does that, I don't know."
