Washington, D.C. (18-April-2012) - Robert J. Kabel, senior advisor at FaegreBD Consulting, has been elected Republican national committeeman for the District of Columbia.

As national committeeman, Kabel will work with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and other national party leaders to continue to build the Republican Party in D.C. and throughout the country. Kabel will officially begin his four-year term in September at the conclusion of the 2012 Republican National Convention.

Kabel is concluding his fourth term as chairman of the D.C. Republican Committee, where he focused the party's resources on supporting education reform, the successful school choice movement, transparency in D.C. government, ethics laws, fiscal responsibility and crime reduction. He previously served as the first chairman of the Log Cabin Republicans, chairman of the Liberty Education Forum, legislative director for Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) and in President Ronald Reagan's Legislative Affairs Office. He was appointed to the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission by President George H.W. Bush and to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV-AIDS by President George W. Bush.

At FaegreBD Consulting, Kabel represents financial services clients before the federal government on legislative and regulatory issues and helps companies establish and expand their presence in Brazil, Mexico and other Latin American countries. He was actively engaged in the development of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and was instrumental in the extension of the Generalized System of Preferences program that permitted American companies to import duty free from Brazil.
