Facilities

Listed below are a few examples of our work assisting higher education institutions with facilities and other infrastructure projects.

  • Reuse Plan. A FaegreBD Consulting university client needed to develop a new facility for its business college. At the same time, the U.S. government determined that it no longer wanted to own and operate a historic federal building adjacent to the university's campus. Recognizing the opportunity, FaegreBD Consulting and the client developed a reuse plan for the federal building as a solution to both the federal and university needs. FaegreBD Consulting and the client worked with the General Services Administration on the transfer (at no cost), conversion and redevelopment of the federal building as the new business school home, also further integrating the institution into the downtown area.
  • Laboratory Upgrades. In order to meet the evolving demands of students and enhance the university's ability to attract high-achieving undergraduates, FaegreBD Consulting assisted a private institution with securing $3.8 million in U.S. Department of Energy funding to upgrade existing mechanical systems, computer networks, and laboratory space.
  • Workforce Development Centers. FaegreBD Consulting worked alongside an institution of higher education which serves as a state leader in workforce and economic development, attracting significant economic enterprise back into areas that have traditionally relied on the manufacturing sector. The university has been successful in accomplishing this work through the operation of statewide learning centers. These centers are the primary source for higher education services for individuals who are place-bound and unable to attend college or workforce training at a university campus. The hub of the learning centers is located in a community experiencing tremendous economic transition. FaegreBD Consulting worked with university leadership to secure funding for the renovation of its learning center as well as the expansion of educational services.
