Aaron Smith Joins FaegreBD Consulting's Equity Property Tax Group

Chicago (01-April-2015) - Aaron M. Smith has joined FaegreBD Consulting as a property tax manager in the firm’s Equity Property Tax Group.

Smith brings more than six years of experience to the tax group where his focus includes valuation analysis and tax appeals, performing assessment appeal representation, and negotiations. Smith also has represented investment grade real estate portfolios and operating/manufacturing businesses. Other experience is inclusive of detailed modeling of future tax expense scenarios, including acquisitions, redevelopment and dispositions.

Before joining Equity Property Tax Group, Smith was a Tax Consultant II with Property Tax Assistance Co., Inc. and senior tax consultant with Advantax Group, LLC. Both are national property tax firms focused in commercial property tax matters. Smith managed his own portfolio of clients throughout the entire property tax cycle, with an in-depth analysis of the property, real and personal property compliance functions, assessment appeal negotiations with the assessor’s office and representation before county appeal boards.

Smith is a member of the Professional Organizations Institute of Professionals in Taxation (IPT) and National Property Taxpayers Association (NPTA). He is completing course work with the American Society of Appraisers and International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO).

Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009.
