Barbara J. Rohde

Senior Advisor

For nearly 20 years, Barbara Rohde has partnered with FaegreBD Consulting on a variety of issues involving not for profit organizations, local governments and corporate clients on federal-related issues, including such topics as housing, transportation, public safety, health and public works. Barbara works closely with the firm's staff on federal legislation to advocate for clients within federal agencies and on Capitol Hill.

Previously, Barbara served as Director of the State of Minnesota/Washington Office for Governor Rudy Perpich. In that capacity, she directed all federal legislative work on behalf of the State of Minnesota, which was more than 30 percent of the entire state budget at that time. Barbara worked on many projects to promote Minnesota programs, including creation of the first educational facility for air traffic controllers in the nation, waivers to create pilot programs in Minnesota for welfare reform, waivers to institute the School Choice program in Minnesota, funding to create the initial Intelligent Transportation System for flow control on Twin City freeways and serving as the federal lead on the International Special Olympic Games held in Minnesota.  She also coordinated all federal affairs for the first visit to a state government in the United States by President Gorbachev.

Prior to that, Barbara served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Byron Dorgan (later Senator) for more than five years in Washington, D.C. and worked in Minnesota in various capacities for Rudy Perpich as Lt. Governor and Governor for three years. Before earning her master's degree from the University of Denver, Barbara was selected for graduate internships at the United Nations in New York City and the Wilson Center for International Scholars at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Since then, she has represented the U.S. on various delegations to Japan, Australia and the former Soviet Union.
