On behalf of a diverse group of clinical organizations across the country, FaegreBD Consulting helped develop and advance an innovation research model to more quickly and efficiently implement and evaluate care coordination strategies for Medicare beneficiaries so those found to be effective can be implemented widely. The group aimed to replace an outdated, ineffective and costly system of Medicare demonstrations and pilots by creating a dynamic standing network of experts qualified to more rapidly implement, test and evaluate various care models. Dave Zook and Nick Manetto of FaegreBD Consulting helped conceptualize and refine the proposal and worked to advance it over several years.
The network concept played a key role in the shape and structure of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Additionally, interventions developed by the group are continuing to achieve success in terms of improved health outcomes and lower costs of Medicare beneficiaries.
