Kathleen Rice Appointed to U.S. Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking

[email protected]Washington, D.C. (29-July-2016) - Faegre Baker Daniels attorney Kathleen Rice has been appointed as a Commissioner to the U.S. Evidence-Based Policymaking Commission—a bipartisan commission with 15 members that has a set term of 18 months.
Commissioners are tasked with studying how data is handled in relation to federal policymaking and evaluating whether a clearinghouse should be created for program and survey data. In fulfilling its responsibilities, the Commission must also consider issues relating to the security and privacy of personal information.
Rice—a former counsel for the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee and former federal prosecutor—was appointed by the Senate Majority Leader as an expert in protecting personally identifiable information and data minimization.
In her practice at the firm, Rice provides legal counsel to corporate clients on issues relating to privacy, data security, risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. She co-leads the firm’s data security and privacy practice and is a member of the white collar defense and investigations practice. Rice is also a senior director in the firm’s consulting division.
